Environment (2021) is a piece for one performer, singing and playing the accordion, harmonica, and feedback. The piece is based on twelve graphic scores, which are visual studies of a movement from the center to the edges. With the accordion, harmonica, and feedback, I create an environment for the voice to come in and perform the shapes and trajectories of the graphic scores. In the piece, I search for resonant frequencies, combination tones, and beatings, which are activated by the voice in relationship with the instrumental environment and the architecture of the specific space. For this album, each of the twelve scores of the piece is recorded in a different location to bring its characteristics into the piece.
